The #1 factor keeping people from realizing the dream and profits from writing a book is time.
We constantly hear about authors that took 1-year or 2-years to write their book or ebook and most people simply cannot fit that into their lives right now – if ever!
Yet there is a somewhat silent majority (me included) that can put together high-demand, non-fiction books together in days or weeks even if you are incredibly busy and can only spend 15-30 minutes each day writing.
This assumes that you even write the book yourself…we outline methods where you can even outsource the writing of your book for reasonable fees that will see you recoup your investment with as little as 10-15 book sales.
But, let’s assume for the moment that you do want to write your own book (or at least a portion of it).
The first edition of our last eboook ended up coming in at 82-pages (in Microsoft Word, before being formatted into PDF) and took us exactly 7-days to write it.
The exact process we use to find hungry markets, create titles, outline and launch our book projects are outlined in The Ultimate Information Entrepreneur’s Success Package and will rapidly improve any want-to-be book marketer’s results.
The great thing is that I spent less than 1-hour each day writing which left me time to still spend time with my family, getting proper sleep and performing other functions for profit.
Non-fiction books, when outlined correctly, lend themselves to rapid writing because they are clearly focused on providing a desired outcome for the reader…it’s not like you have to spend months laboring over the setting, plot or storyline.
Where many people go wrong is that they fail to —
- Have a clear focus on the purpose of the book which, as we stated, should be focused on helping your reader achieve a highly desired outcome
- Do not spend the first hour outlining the sequences, steps, timelines to help bring about the end result
- Fail to outline each sequence or step as a series of questions…this dramatically speeds up writing and allows you to quickly get into writing each time you re-start instead of having to remember where you left off
- Have an iterative mentality. Too many writers try to boil the ocean with their first edition. Instead, be extremely focused on the main steps to bring about the desired outcome for your reader and then incorporate additional experience, research or feedback in subsequent editions. This not only helps you get your first edition out faster, it forces you to setup your business around delivering ongoing value to your market instead of a one-shot deal
When you write a non-fiction book with a clear focus on helping your reader achieve a desired outcome (state, accomplishment, achievement, or step on the way to something bigger or better in life) and when you outline your book properly, you should be able to write 3-5 pages in 15-minutes each day. At this rate you could have you own 60-80 page ebook or book ready for the market in as little as 2 weeks. Increase that to two-15-minute sessions each day and you could have your book ready in 7-days.
Not so bad is it?
When you consider these books can be self-published, earn you a profit of $20 or more on each book and bring you anywhere from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars automatically each month long after you finish writing, spending 15-30 minutes each day is no longer a possibility but something you MUST do.
