Often the elusive topic that keeps non-fiction writers from getting started is really right under their nose.
I too was guilty of doing too much dreaming, thinking, planning and doubting for years before I finally went and wrote our first ebook back in 2000. Since then, it’s like someone opened the floodgates and it’s actually hard NOT to produce new non-fiction information products these days.
Through it all we document the systems, tools, and marketing techniques we use as we continue to grow and add to our online businesses inside InfoMarketer’sZone…many have found the guidance and mentoring help inspirational and helpful as they undertake their own book writing or course development projects.
Came across a super story Father’s Day, just getting around to posting about it now (gives you an idea of how busy my life has been this June/July!)
A father who’s love of writing since childhood has now released his 28th book – and it’s about Baseball players relationship with their Dad’s in Baseball Dads
Not a book about baseball, not a book about Dad’s…but unique, inspirational and emotional tales of the relationships between Father’s and Son’s, how sports (specifically baseball in this case) solidifies that bond…fertile ground for telling stories people just love to read about relationships.
Here’s a short video clip from the author worth watching.
Now that you have watched the video, let me ask you a few questions:
1. Is there not an angle on relationships (husband and wife, parent/child, best friends, lovers, etc…) that you could explore – relationships are one of the leading topics that sell books like crazy
2. Did you think it was all about 1 book? As you can see from this author, and we can vouch for this as well…once you get your first book finished, the second and third become much easier and quicker
3. Did you notice how this simple video is a promotional piece in itself? Shot outside, this simple “talking head” video is a great way to get attention, get noticed on directories like YouTube, get listed by Google in the search engines and spice up publicity pieces like this article.
With 28 books to his credit, surely you can get your first (or next book out)…what do you think?
