It’s FAR easier to dream about reaching a financial goal (like being a millionaire) than it is actually reaching that goal.
In addition – when you ONLY dream about it, you can also dream of pleasant ways of getting there (4-hour work week as an example!)
However to actually turn that dream into reality, there are a few steps that DO demand work, tough choices and persistence:
1. Know What You Want To Do AND What You Are Good At
Becoming a millionaire demands that you understand and then serve a given marketplace – either through removing friction selling someone else’s products or services or coming up with your own. This demands self-awareness, self-confidence, usually some trial-and-error (very few know exactly what they want right out of the gate), building skill and building a loyal following
2. A Plan Of What To Do And What NOT To Do
The process of coming up with goals and then working backward to develop a plan is the FUN part…the part that most people do not tackle is what you are willing to GIVE UP in order to achieve an ambitious plan? Will you give up leisure time? Will your family understand your total commitment over the next months? Can you go back to just paying the bills and giving up the “nice” things? Are you willing to do the things that may not be SO fun to keep the plan on schedule?
3. Learn, Do and Revise
When you jump into any transition, there will be a learning curve. The more you DO, the faster you will learn. Some things will work, many will not. Will you be able to overlook the setbacks, learn from them and revise as you take another shot? This may go for months…every entrepreneur, healthy person, top executive, or otherwise successful person goes through this and weathers the turbulence as they hone their craft
4. Be Patiently Impatient
Each of my clients over at 30 Day Product Profit System takes an oath to be “patiently impatient”. What this means is that you are impatient enough to work your plan daily with urgency…grateful for what you have but not satisfied…this is your DRIVING force. Patient enough to know that this won’t happen overnight, in the next week or in a month.
Working toward a BIG financial goal of becoming a millionaire takes many months…usually years. Be ok with that. Understand this process takes time, but will only come to those who work with urgency. That’s what will make you stand out in the long-run. Those who are only impatient lose interest and discipline and never reach the top. Those who only practice patience never find the urgency and motivation to put 110% effort in and bring momentum to their side.
Becoming a millionaire (or more) is within everyone’s reach…most will never do what is necessary to extend their arm – you can be different by using the four steps above
