I get asked often by website owners, business people, entrepreneurs, bloggers, etc…how they can go from 200-500 visitors a day to 2,000 or more…
The good news is that there are methods you can use starting today to grow your traffic and improve your overall sales.
However, make sure that you first understand your financials.
In other words, what is your method of monetizing that website, blog or landing page?
Do you sell a product or service? Do you sell other peoples products or services (as an affiliate)? Do you monetize through ads?
Next, what is your return rate today? In other words, what do you make per 1000 visitors today from your site?
For most people we help over at InfoMarkter’s Zone, their return is less than $50/1000 visitors and for many, it is much less than that – as little as $5 or less.
If that is the case, then you want to tackle the issue of conversion and monetization before you start throwing more traffic at your site or blog.
For example, using Adsense alone, many people bring in $2-$5 per 1000 visitors.
However, if your conversion rate on a product (your own or affiliate product) is even 1% then you can bring in $300 or more depending on the price and/or commission on the product you are selling.
Needless to say, if you are below $50/1000 visitors I would seriously consider alternate monetization strategies before blowing my brains out on more traffic.
What if you are >$50/1000 visitors and you want to blow that up?
Produce More Content
I would focus on video, disseminate it in more places. Are you writing articles on Medium? Are you producing YouTube videos? Are you posting to Facebook? Are you active on Twitter, FB, Linked In, etc…?
Package Some High-Value Giveaways
A great way to attract more attention and get more traffic to your site is to produce some high-value giveaways. These could be a special 3-part video series or course, report, etc…that focuses on solving a specific and urgent problem in your space.
Make Your Own Intro Products
Package some of your articles/posts and turn them into a product (an ebook or course) that you charge for. One advantage here (other than alternative methods of monetization, is that you can recruit affiliates or partners to drive traffic in exchange for commission which grows your traffic dramatically
Paid Advertising
If (and only if) you are seeing strong conversions and you have a proven system for converting visitors into leads and those leads into paying customers, then you are ready to ramp up your traffic through advertising. Those ads could be on Facebook, Twitter or even Linked In depending on your product and target market
Podcast
We improved our traffic to one of our websites by nearly 50% just by building a thriving podcast. This won’t happen instantly, but over a period of 1-2 months of interesting podcasts done regularly a few times a week and some diligence in getting the word out, you will start to see the benefit in terms of sustained, higher traffic to your websites
