If you’ve tried your hand at building an online business you know that to be successful your internet marketing campaign must:

  • Get people to find and pay attention to you through either paid advertising or via methods such as SEO, partner marketing, etc…
  • Convince people to take a first-step action…typically this is to become a subscriber, participate or contact your business in some way or buy from you
  • For those that do not buy immediately, you want to “warm” them with content that helps convince them your paid products or services will help them
  • For those that DO buy, you want them to buy more, potentially higher-priced products over time

The extent to which you can move people from first contact through buying activity means EVERYTHING to how much profit you will make with your online business, the first few weeks of the Information Profits Video Training Series helps you set this sales funnel up in practice.

The Profit Funnel

Many of us in marketing circles call the design of the process that takes your prospect from first contact through loyal, repeat customer the profit funnel for the obvious reason that you take masses of people and funnel them through various stages until they buy…and even then you will typically find that the top 10% of your customers will (over time) make up more than 50% of your profits.

One of the mistakes many online marketers make is that they jump to close the deal too fast.

They get a cold lead to their website and immediately start hammering on them with sales messages without first convincing them they have the right product or service.

When this happens you tend to get extremely low conversion rates (meaning for every 1000 visitors you get to your website less than 10 will buy from you and many others disappear over time)

To avoid low conversions and to collect more loyal subscribers and highly profitable buyers, here is a sample sales funnel that we use across 4 different niche markets to successfully turn visitors into loyal subscribers and profit producing buyers.

1. Create great content – this gets you the visitors, the traffic, the eyeballs you need to have people enter the first phase of your sales funnel
2. Create 2-3 jumping-off points (points where you make your first request of your visitor to take action)  to your sales funnel (2-3 hottest topics that you see interest your target market, create a freebie to address these hot topics – reports, e-courses, video series, etc…)
3. Upon sign-up, send confirmation message (two-tier opt-in) and then download instructions to your freebie + OTO to your product.  This should be a super-sized deal that your subscriber would find appealing – something like 50% off if they buy in the next 24-hours, as one example.
4. Hold weekly or bi-weekly (whatever you can pull off in the beginning) events – webinars, teleseminars, video streaming sessions, etc… to realize higher conversions of offers to your list
5. Mail them weekly with some content mixed with offers.  Here you want to keep building the relationship with those that sign up to receive information from you.  Keep helping them, giving them your opinion, sharing case studies of others who are going through what they are and offering valuable resources (including your own) in different ways until they are ready to buy.

Try this sales funnel and let us know how it works for you…you will notice improved conversions and that means more profit coming into your online business.
