Although the market for ebooks hasn’t lived up to past expectations, publishers are continuing to build their title listings, specific niche markets are building out such as education, libraries, business and internet marketing – to the point where the ebook market is getting closer to a breakout.
Its in this environment that Adobe decided to hit the market with client software that will give ebook viewing an entirely new perspective from the current Adobe reader software many of us use to view today’s pdf version ebooks.
“Adobe makes eBook Push” tells us that we are in for client software that looks much more like iTunes than the typical reader software we’ve had in the past. The issue they are addressing is how do customers preview, store and manage ebooks on their desktops and mobile devices – turning browsing ebooks into as cool an experience as browsing mp3’s and videos.Â
There are several pressures combining to indicate that ebooks are heading toward mainstream acceptance – and although they will never replace tangible books, for writers and information entrepreneurs, the increase in popularity and acceptance means only good things.Â
