The formula for starting and growing a high profit online business is not exactly rocket science…
Ready!
1. Select An Identifiable and Reachable Niche Market
2. Uncover Huge Emotional Demand/Want Within That Niche
3. Address The Want With A Quality, Differentiated Product
That’s It!
For people that believe they can’t find a niche or that all of the good niches are taken/are too competitive, go back and read these 3 steps again.
These 3 steps are the foundation for every business out there today, you can have yours too.
So, to help you get rolling on finding a niche, here are 3 ways you can have your niche in just minutes…
1. Google Search
There are actually a couple of ways Google can help you in your search for your niche.
Start by entering a niche market you are interested in, passionate about or just have some curious interest in…
In this example, we entered “public speaking” and immediately see some related searches come up that include “public speaking anxiety” and “public speaking tips” – these already give us an idea of some approaches we may take to target the market for those interested in public speaking.
We go ahead and search for “public speaking”, then scroll down to the bottom of the first page of search results and we find “Related Searches”
Viola! More results, such as “public speaking lesson plans” which further expand your idea base around what the core desires and wants are in and around the public speaking niche market.
Take refinements like “public speaking tips” and do another search on this, you get more suggested topics that help fill out your niche lists.
This technique is good for both exploring, mining and refining your search for niche markets.
2. Amazon
Amazon is the grandaddy of online commerce, so it stands to reason we can get some pretty useful information from Amazon.
Just as searching Google brings up suggestions fueled by popular searches and niche desires, Amazon does the same in its core search box.
Just enter your search term and you will immediately see dozens of suggested niche searches that can lead you directly to profitable niche markets.
Similarly, you can explore the Categories down the left side after doing a search – for example a search across all categories for “weight loss” returns the following:
This gives you added, cross-sectional views of potential products and desires within the weight loss marketplace.
Finally, working your way through the top few pages of products returned when you search Amazon is a great way to guage specific interest and sub-niches along with the ability to drill into sales rank for each product by clicking on it and paging down.
3. Feedly (Blog Directories)
I often explore leading blogs around a niche I am considering for my business for several reasons:
- To get a sense for overall interest level (many blogs with many readers and lots of participation means huge interest)
- Drill in to see which content elements are getting more interest – articles, titles, videos, etc…
- Find potential partners, either syndicate opportunities for content and traffic or potential channels to market in the case you develop your own products
Feedly is simple to use, enter your search term and you see a nice, clean summary of blogs with stats on weekly readers, weekly posts, etc…so you can determine interest…
For example, a search for “Fitness” brings this first row of results (lots more to comb through as well) – just to give you a sense for how it works.
