One of the most effective and fastest ways to build a following and gain trust in your marketplace is with your own niche information product.
Having your own self-published book, ebook, training course, membership site or other information program not only creates an immediate product to sell and a means to creating a new stream of income, but it instantly tags you as an “expert” in your field…someone to trust, pay attention to elevate in your niche market.
The challenge for many online entrepreneurs who want to write their own non-fiction book or information product is to pick a specific market and topic for their infoproduct. The first weeks of the Information Profits System focus on identifying your ideal niche market.
Indeed, this is a very important step, but it need not delay you or cause you great pain.
Here are 6 tips on finding your ideal niche market when creating and marketing your own information products:
1.What Is Selling?
Look on Amazon to see if there are physical and/or Kindle books selling. Specifically, you want to know that there are books in your niche market and that there are at least a few with a sales rank better than 500,000 (HINT – the lower the sales rank, the more a product is selling on Amazon). In addition to sales rank, review comments for signs of recent interest.
2.Know Your Keywords
Make sure you dig into some keywords that would describe your niche – it may be that you are searching an ebook directory under a certain keyword that is better described by another (Ex. Anxiety will not bring you as many returns as Panic Attacks)
3.Search For Wide Evidence Of Products
Search Google for YOUR KEYWORDS + DVD, +Workshop, +Ebook, +Guidebook, +Seminar, +Manual, + Course, etc… each of these will return a different product type and more information on what the potential is in the niche you are investigating
4.Article And Content Directories
Take a look at article directories like Ezine Articles and search for article titles to get a feel for how often they are published and searched. In addition, be sure to also search for discussion forums and blogs around your niche market to see how popular your niche is and identify the real trends in demand and participation for content.
5.Affiliate Programs Tell You A Lot
Search also Commission Junction, Ebook Junkie, Paydotcom, Click2sell, etc… as there are many other affiliate programs that can help give you a sense for what is selling. As one example, I was researching a topic for an ebook idea I had nearly two years ago, after doing a couple hourse research it became clear to me there was a much bigger opportunitiy around a physical product category in that particular niche which I built an e-commerce site around – even though I am 75%+ focused on information products.
6.Your First Test Site – Excellent Feedback
Once you have a sense that the niche potential does exist, but is underserved, I would setup a blog or content site and start to pull in traffic, build an initial list and test some ideas (either affiliate products or my own intro products, reports, video series, etc…) before jumping in big-time.
Once you have run through these techniques you will have a solid foundation upon which to pick your niche and drive your first, profitable information product to boost your first online business.
