Let’s face it, the most exciting thing about creating and marketing your own information products is the concept of having hundreds of high profile affiliates out there promoting that product 24-hours a day 7-days a week while you sit back from your command center (Ok – maybe your home office) and help them bring you a 5-figure month in sales!
It happens all the time – the top products on Clickbank are typically more than half (and sometimes more than 75% ) sold through affiliates – wouldn’t that be great, to spend 0-dollars on promotion leaving it all up to your army of affiliate partners?
Leverage is always a good business strategy, especially when you are first starting out in a new market, the concept of accessing mature lists through highly respected authorities can save you 6-12 months of painful relationship building, literally exposing you to the majority of your market in just a few weeks.
HOW TO FIND HOT AFFILIATES THAT WILL PROMOTE YOUR PRODUCT
But, let’s not put the cart before the horse – how do you find these highly sought after golden nugget affiliate people?
Tracking down affiliates can be done in a number of ways:
1. If there are similar products on Clickbank – then find their Clickbank ID (by default the promotion link any product is given on Clickbank embeds the owner’s CB-ID in the hop-link ) and do a Google search for the ID – this will bring up many sites from those promoting (at least the ones without a redirect in place)
2. I still dig into authority sites in my marketplace, also go to Ezine Articles and plugin “Press Release” – most of the articles written on the topic will be promoting either their own service or affiliate products – they will be affiliates you can contact
3. Build a list, you will want to anyway and a portion of any list will end up to be potential affiliates – it just happens that way in our experience
4. Subscribe to ezines, read blogs around your area of interest and notice the ads that come up, are they promoting affiliate products and if so, do they fall into the area of your product – that tells you they are already promoting other products and could be promoting yours too
5. Use the Google Adwords tool to find out the top advertisers and ads around your keyword – what are they promoting
6. Use a tool like CBEngine where you can easily spot related CB products to your own and then use method 1 to find affiliates
Once you identify a list of 10-20 candidates, then we have been very successful using a system (explained via videos and templates inside InfoMarketersZone)Â where we introduce our products first before even mentioning promotion – gives time to create the relationship.
