How do you track down these “super” affiliates and gain their trust and cooperation?
7 Steps To Hooking BIG WIG Affiliate Players
To ramp up highly productive, profit producing affiliates for your info products you need to be a proactive affiliate manager. A few hours spent on the 7 steps below can pay off for months and years to come.Â
1. Locate 30 of the top authority sites targeting the same customers (but not directly competitive). How?Â
- Download the Alexa toolbar, that will give you a sense of how much traffic each site you visit is getting. The lower the Alexa rating, the more popular the site
- Search Google under your main keywords and click on the top 2-pages of results, you will find a few of them are more credible and authoritative than the others
- Click on the sites advertising to the right once you perform your searches – this doesn’t guarantee high authority sites, but you should know who is paying for advertising
- Subscribe to a number of lists and ezines in your niche market – you will then notice certain sites that get mentioned more than others – these will be authority sites
- Search blog directories like Bloglines, Digg to find the top blogs in your niche
2. Research their lead generation and sales process…how do they get traffic, do they have a newsletter, a blog, etc …? This usually means getting involved in their sales process.
3. Find out if they market other affiliate products…the ones that do are likely to be more open to promoting others
4. Contact them making specific reference to something on their site, blog or in a product they have produced…that way you are personally acknowledging their presence rather than just making cold contact. Often, it’s even worth buying their product if you really want to get them…it’s harder to ignore customers than cold emails.Â
5. Tell them what your BIG idea is and mention that you have developed a new product – would they mind doing a quick review? Then, if they say yes, send them a free copy and follow up until they give you a review.
6. Once they have given you a positive review, you then mention a super affiliate offer where they can make large percentage for simply mentioning your product or publishing a review.  Give them a link to tools so they can see promoting is dead-simple.Â
7. Better if you can organize them around an event – like a launch – that way they have a deadline for promotion.Â
Using this approach you ease your affiliate prospect into the decision of promoting for you.Â
You’ll get a much better response in your affiliate management program,  they will be more focused on their promotion and will stick with you much longer than if you contact them cold without having them review your product.Â
