I’m often asked by those getting started with their own business…what does a typical day look like or we are asked questions around how long it takes or how smooth the path is.

The first rule of entrepreneurship and growing ANY business is “MESSY”

I have never known starting and growing a substantial business to be EASY or SMOOTH…there are bound to be many challenges, setbacks, moments of uncertainty, confusion, frustration and MANY gut-check moments.

Successful entrepreneurs grow from these experiences, even learn to embrace them and ride the BULL to the finish line, while the vast majority are so surprised and uncertain they abandon ship long before they work their way into the rewarding and incredible position of running a profitable business.

The incredible thing though is all of this can be easily managed by MINDSET…by knowing the reality of how businesses are built and of taking advantage of that knowledge in how you choose to build yours.

Many people often assume that “experts” or “guru’s” have a higher degree of knowledge or experience in markets and this explains why they are able to get ahead and lead their marketplace.

What I have always found is actually quite different…

Often the “experts” or “guru’s” know LESS than many people, however they are able to VERY QUICKLY ramp to a point where they know more by taking action and learning from their direct market experience.

A major part of leading in any market is to have others want to engage with you because they feel you have something to share that will help them reduce the pain or time taken to achieve their goals in life.

It’s easy to see then why a market will follow someone who takes action…and this is the real “Guru’s Secret”

I have helped entrepreneur’s launch and grow information publishing businesses from zero knowledge through to “Guru” status in their markets…the way they accomplished this was taking massive action and always staying at least one step ahead of their target audience.

Staying one step ahead means they have valuable experience and tips to share with their market…valuable enough that the top movers will pay them handsomely to let them in on the tips and experiences they uncover from taking early action.

A leader I follow in the social networking space is seen as a “guru” – and earns Millions upon Millions of dollars for that status and knowledge.

Truth is he has no special knowledge or skill OTHER than taking massive action and staying one step ahead of his market…he tries every social platform that comes out, makes it his focus and then educates and informs his target market about what he finds.  For his audience, this is very specialized information – and that’s why they pay him very well.

Yikes – this next week marks the first day of Fall, how time flies and how quickly the summer goes for us up here in the Northern half of the hemisphere.

The cooler weather already has me investigating our Winter trip, trying to decide on Arizona, California or Florida Keys…sure we would have a blast with all of these.  Taking vacations is important, and it also motivates you to really get moving on your business – the better your business does, the nicer the vacations you can take with your family.
