But here’s a short-form, 3-step system you can use anytime to tackle bad habits and work on replacing them with new, desirable habits – ready?

  1. Understanding WHY it’s happening (cause, triggers) – most people move right to #2 or #3 without knowing what’s behind the bad habit
  2. Pattern Interrupt! Interrupting the cause and habit you want to change by doing something drastically different. I call this a Pattern Interrupt…this happens automatically when something tragic or drastic happens in your life, the key is to be able to do it BEFORE hitting the wall
  3. Turn temporary change into new habits…All of us know how much easier going on a 1 week diet is over changing eating habits long-term (as one example). Turning temporary change into long-term lifestyle change is one of the most challenging things we face…but for change to really stick, it HAS to happen. By the way – it has much more to do with “tricking” your brain until it paves a new neural pathway making your desired behavior a new NORMAL habit.
