Building a business, a relationship, a reputation or a legacy – the most powerful technique you can employ is consistency.Â
Driven by a clear focus, taking consistent action, measuring the results consistently and making consistent, ongoing improvement is the key to success in anything you do.
Why?
Trust!
Before we buy a product or service from you, we need to trust you.Â
Especially when your business is selling information, knowledge and services, trust becomes a primary differentiator allowing you to grow sales, increase your market value, get more profit per sale and build lasting relationships that will pay off for years to come.Â
How do you become more consistent in your information marketing business?
1. Pick an area of focus where you know there is an opportunity to share your consistency with a marketplace in demand
2. Plan your value into that marketplace – before you can be consistent, you need to know what it is they want so you can consistently help them achieve the desired outcome
3. Develop a plan for monetizing your consistent effort. It could be paid products such as ebooks, courses, membership sites, etc… or it could be information published for free in exchange for back-end profits delivered via advertising or services
4. Put together a 1-year plan to deliver consistent value to your marketplace. This should involve a combination of free and monetized activities
5. Expect setbacks, this is a marathon, not a sprint. Take action, test, expand what works, discard or modify what doesn’t
6. Make sure you build your follwer base as you go — you may try different methods of monetizing your content, but make sure you are giving enough to your market that they hang in there with you until you find the right strategy.Â
Finally, know that 9 our of 10 competitors in your market will not get it!
They will NOT consistently serve their market, so you will get the market advantage by being consistent in information marketing business – even in highly competitive markets.
That is what I am trying to do with my ebooks blog for a few months now. I am still new and don’t know many stuff I maybe should, but I believe that in the end I will push this small blog of mine to be the ground floor of my, hopefully, long internet and affiliate marketing journey.
Good post, the consistency is something that I struggled with untill last few months. Even nowadays I sometimes feel tempted to leave my current small projects and start something else, but I realize that by doing so I will never finish anything. There is always something better, a shortcut, an “easier” solution, but when it comes to making money online I believe, can’t say that I know because I am not making any significant money yet, but I believe that I have finally found the right track.
I am focusing on right now is not something I expect to drive me some “big” money, in the end I will probably make not more than 50$ a month from it, but something like that actually is my goal. And to achieve that goal, I have to be consistent in delivering fresh, new content and slowly building my search engine rankings (which are already quite promising). Consistency plays the major part here, we would all be happy to make money doing nothing, but reality is much different.
Nice! I keep posting useful content each day on facebook, twitter, etc building a community and hope that this will continue to turn into increasing sales over time.
Exactly Will – regarding social networks – a great way to build a following is to constantly search out and react to posts on your topic – that way you get discussions going to mix in with promos and content posts.
