So much about online information product marketing is about being able to generate content…written or otherwise. If you struggle to be able to consistently write great material fast, then apply the 3 tips we share below.
You must be able to re-phrase, organize and put your stamp on information being able to package it into clear, concise systems for sale online, free content that will allow your subscribers to achieve small steps on their way to ultimate goals.
Sometimes you are working on a chapter for a new ebook, other times it’s an outline for new course you will deliver via a seminar or workshop. Still other times you may find yourself putting together a script for a video you will shoot showing people how to follow a certain technique, tip or process for achieving their goals.
During this process you must be witty, clear, focused, systematic and even a little entertaining to be at your best – oh yes, and you need to be able to accomplish all of this with minimal time since you may only have 20 or 30 minute slots where you can free yourself up to write during the day.
We’ve all been caught in the situation where we sit down with a clear idea of what we want to say, but can’t quite get the point accross and after 3 or 4 tries at writing our article, course or ebook chapter, we give up in frustration. Not only does it put us behind a day, an experience like this can be enough to throw us into a unproductive funk for days on end.
When we developed the 45-day Information Product Profits Success System we made sure we included several tips along the way about staying focused, getting maximum writing productivity out of our time – even if we’re someone who has never written before.
Here are 3 tips you can use to improve your writing productivity – when the words won’t come:
1. Rephrase what you want to say from the perspective of your reader – specifically, what question would they have about your knowledge – repeat the question to yourself several times as if your prospect was standing right in front of you. Try answering out loud, or at least as if you were responding to them directly in your head to kickstart and focus your brain in the right direction.
2. Recount your own experiences. Often I have found myself searching for the right word, phrase or story to use when illustrating a point only to realize later that I myself had direct experience I could have drawn upon, all I had to do is tell my own story. What would have been easier than that?
3. When all else fails, I take a 1-2 hour break, so something I enjoy and then come back to my writing project with a new perspective. Even with all of the techniques we use to make writing more productive, there are times or days when you just don’t have it. No problem, go play some music, read a book, take a jog or work out – when you come back you will find that things look different and you can write better and faster than ever.
You can’t ignore it…doing business online means that you need to generate content – the more the better in terms of products and marketing, so it’s better to get good at it – master it now so that you can ramp up your success online faster.
