It’s too bad that just when most opportunity seekers, internet marketers and biz opp jumpers have decided that writing your own ebook is no longer a sexy or profitable way to make money online – proof is finally coming out showing just the opposite.

Seriously, there are many of us who understand well that the potential of generating very healthy profits from information products – ebooks, reports, membership sites, courses and so on…is alive and VERY well thank you.

Our members of Information Marketer’s Zone know the potential, in almost every market imagineable we have successful ebook, course and infoproduct marketers.

Take a look at this story from Business 2.0 "Virtual Book, Real Money" where they highlight two examples of successful ebook authors – niether of whom would agree to offers of publishing contracts now that they have experienced the profits associated with digital information products.

Let me pull the single most important paragraph out of this article as it relates to all of you who are considering writing your own ebook, but don’t know where to start:

"Talifero didn’t plan to become a raw vegan guru. She worked in Internet marketing until the dotcom crash left her unemployed. Then she noticed that traffic to a family website she’d built — much of it about her food preferences — was growing. People began e-mailing questions about her diet. When she tried to sign up for a raw vegan retreat, it had sold out months in advance. Clearly there was a market for her expertise.

So Talifero decided to write an e-book. "

Notice she started with a topic she was passionate about, something she was interested and active with.  It all began with a website which led to emails and expressions of interest and finally content for an ebook.

This is exactly the right system to follow – one we teach over at InfoMarketer’sZone taking the risk out of building your own ebook business online.

It’s not the highlight of the article, but I bet you looked anyway…how much were these publishers making in the very early stages of their infoproduct publishing businesses?

One earned $130K and the other more than $300K – both with plans to significantly increase that amount this year, not bad return for a few week’s work.

Rest assured, there is still money being made with ebooks, especially the variety of these two examples that deal with hot markets, how-to topics and open the door to many other income opportunities such as additional courses, membership sites, workshops, coaching, and more…
