Here’s a little tip that will help many of you who are struggling or thinking about writing your own ebook.
We see many examples of people trying to write a story. Others look at an ebook as simply a place to dump a great deal of information about a certain topic. That’s understandable, after all, most people start off with a dream of writing a great book someday – a bestselling novel or work of fiction that puts their name in the limelight.
Guaranteed – the #1 mistake we see people making when they join forces with us over at InfoMarketersZone is that they are writing stories, not training material.
Maybe you don’t know this, but writing stories is much more challenging than writing training material, so understanding this important point will make your task much simpler on the road to writing your own successful ebook.
But let’s remember what a non-fiction or especially a "how to" book or ebok is all about.
Writing your own "how to" ebooks means…
1. You must inform your reader
2. You must "train" or "consult" them toward knowing more, overcoming a problem, getting more out of their lives in a certain area.
3. There needs to be a reasonable argument for why your "training" course is better or different than all of the others that may already exist in your market. Now, this doesn’t mean it needs to be 100% different, just 10% different in a specific way you can communicate as an advantage to those who will purchase your ebooks.
4. Your ebook should be the starting point of a relationship with your customer that will server them deeper in the weeks, months and years to come through additional information products, ebooks, reports, membership sites, affiliate products, multimedia training products, group coaching, personal consulting or any other way you discover to further help your customer.
Take many of the big name online marketers, they publish information products as lead-in’s to explain the approach and expertise they have on a given topic. Often in advance of the ebook they already have a vision for providing high-priced personal consulting, back-end products, membership sites and more…
Even if you don’t have these other information products ready, or have the degree of expertise you require to publish them just yet, your plan for writing your own ebook should plan on expanding into these areas.
Try structuring your ebook as if it were a course.
First, I need to teach them this, next they must know how to do this, third, I will help them through this…and so on
Once you have the outline for a course, turning that into an ebook is much less daunting, but the best part is…
You will have the outline for a course that you can turn into almost anything – a public speaking seminar, a multimedia course, an ongoing training through a membership site or other information delivery platform.
When you write your own ebook – make it your own personal millionaire course outline and you will have set yourself up for a business that will take you on a wild ride.
