Sitting down and writing a 100-page ebook takes time. Depending on how well you know your topic and your ability to translate the conversation in your head into words, this could be several days or several weeks.
Certainly, writing an ebook is an incredibly good investment of your time – even if it takes you weeks to complete your product, it’s still a leveraged use of time meaning that you will be able to earn sales and profits from your effort for months (even years) after you put in the initial effort.
To really grow your online information product marketing business you need to continually add new products, create higher value and higher priced bundles, generate more content for your subscribers and paid membership sites and so on…
I like to mix expert interviews into my product development, they are typically very simple, take little time and as long as the questions are good, typically pull out some very interesting information for your customers.
Just this past weekend, I located someone on one of the more popular forums that I knew would be a terrific interview. She had just completed her latest e-book on her niche topic, had tons of experience, and would be a great interview to share with my subscribers over at Information Marketer’s Zone.
The challenge I had was that I wanted an interview where she talked about her success writing, helping my information product development customers and subscribers in on her “inside secrets” to turning out hot-selling information products — but I also wanted to help her market her business, which is NOT in marketing, internet marketing or anywhere close.
So, I proposed two interviews, one on the topic of product development and building her information product empire for my subscribers, and a second that would interview her about her topic which she could use to market her businesses.
Win-win right?
Absolutely, within the last 30-minutes I developed the sample question list and intros I’ll use for the interviews and by the end of this week we will have two professionally recorded interviews that we can use to sell or market our other businesses.
You can do the same thing – chasing down experts is as simple as keeping an eye on your market, the busier discussion forums, article directories, authority websites, blogs…you’ll find experts in all of these places.
Off I go to find my next interviews – oh and if you want to hear this interview along with dozens of others with expert information product entrepreneurs – then head over to InfoMarketersZone – we’ll have it up by the weekend.
