There’s no doubt about it, we are entering into the “dog days” of building your business and marketing it online.

Distractions are plenty – you have Thanksgiving leading right into prime shopping season quickly followed by family and the Holiday itself and then comes New Years.

Before you know it, the entire month of December will have flown by, and if you are not extremely disciplined, you will have wasted the better part of 10% of the year.

As anyone who operates their own online business knows, when you are building you must continue to build momentum through ongoing product development, marketing campaigns, partner acquisition and training, content generation, publicity and testing to make sure you are progressively bringing in more and more profit to your business.

Internet marketing is no different.

Here are a few ways to avoid the dog days of Internet Marketing:

1. Reserve time to spend on your business NOW – organize your days through to January so that you always give preference to the important tasks of your internet marketing business. Realize there will be even more pressure on your time and attention – so plan now to stay focused through December.

2. Have some fun with your subscribers.  Begin to relate your business to this busy, stressful time for your customers.  Shorten your marketing down (saving your customers time) while letting them know you understand their pressures during this busy time of year.

3. Keep busy training your affiliates.  As December progresses, more and more internet marketers will drop off the radar screen giving you the opportunity to be heard, something that may have been challenging during the busiest months in the fall.

4. Dive into product creation.  If you don’t have your own ebook, book, report, or other infoproduct, this is a great time to get started.  If you are going to scale back your marketing, at least generate a new product or marketing-oriented content for the New Year so that you are ready to get started with a giant push in 2007.

Above all else, understand that your ability to maintain focus on your internet marketing business in December will have a very powerful impact on your business results in 2007.

Just think how much more fun New Years will be on January 1st if you have accomplished a steady flow of positive results in December – it truly will be a celebration for your internet marketing business.
