First thing everyone has to know that will read this is I am a HUGE blues music fan…I try my best to replicate the great blues songs of the past greats – and there are many.

I’m so proud of what Mark Monahan has done to build the second largest blues festival in North America right here in my little hometown of Ottawa – only second to Chicago Blues Festival.

With more than 300 artists, five stages, 300,000 people – it’s an amazing thing.  Check out the line-up yourself (you’ll notice many non-blues acts too) at Ottawa Blues Festival.

Just caught the great Buddy Guy playing his smokin set Monday night – he had several thousand people in the palm of his hand.

Bob Dylan highlighted one night – not blues, but pretty damn close.

Even Steve Miller (ya the guy from Abracadabra) pleased the crowd with an amazingly great version of Robert Johnson’s Crossroads last night – what a moment.  Guess you can’t grow up in Texas without having learned some of the blues basics.

So – what does all of this have to do with writing…there is a link.

It comes by way of a new blues book written by a newspaper columnist out of the love for Chicago Blues – read the author interview here.

What a great niche market – blues fans are rabid, hungry for information, love the history in their music almost as much as the music itself, so sure there is a market for a book about Chicago Blues music.

How about your favorite music?

Why not trace back the roots of R&B, Motown, Folk, Bluegrass – wouldn’t you have some fun researching and writing about your favorite music…what a blast it must have been to have written this book.

Now you have no excuse for not getting your ebook or book started.
