How is everyone making out with back to school week?  I have kids in 3rd grade and kindergarten, so we’re certainly in the middle of the back-to-school roller coaster – meeting the new teacher, finding friends and making new ones, figuring out the workplan in the coming months, and everything else that goes with getting your kids plugged back into the school routine.

Hopefully things are going smoothly for you.

I haven’t been paying as much attention to my business as I should have over the last few days – but as I get back into operation I discussed an interesting question with one of my coaching club members…

They wanted to know how to target niche markets that were more likely to buy instantly on impulse.

In other words, if you could find a market – let’s say parents, that were more likely to impulsively buy books, ebooks or other information products – why wouldn’t you target them – right?

Yes, but…

It doesn’t quite work that way.

In fact, what makes information product marketing such a powerful business model is that you can take almost any niche market and find a winning topic that will induce your prospects to impulsively buy.

So,  yes, the goal should definitely be to find topics your market will buy on impulse – but all that really means is that you have become a master at understanding desire, demand and the motivations behind that demand in a given market.

Here’s an example…

Completely out of the blue, I chose to research "gardening" by heading to Google and searching for "Gardening Forums".  The very first forum that came up was a popular gardening forum with many sub-categories – I chose to visit Wildflowers.

After just 5-minutes of reading the last month worth of posts it became clear to me there were two major areas of interest resulting in almost 3/4 of the posts (I looked at both the number of readers and responses to the posts as an indication of how in-demand the topic was).

  1. Identifying and recognizing wildflowers.  Some of the posts that received the most attention were pictures along with labels and descriptions of the wildflowers.  This topic lends itself to a picture ebook or even membership site where you begin with a core set of pictures and videos of wildflowers allowing membership site users to upload their’s as well.
  2. Eradicating weeds that tend to overtake wildflowers.  It was crazy how many posts were asking for advice on getting rid of this or that weed that was interfering with the wildflower garden – a special report or ebook on how to get rid of different weeks would be great here.

You can take almost any niche market you can think of and follow the same process – coming up with high-demand topics which will have a built-in propensity to impulse buyers.

Ever since releasing Ultimate Information Entrepreneur’s Success Package, this package has mostly been purchased by impulse buyers who badly NEED to figure out  how to decide on topics and complete their own information publishing products – an impulse buy for someone who is desperately seeking a solution to this often-held problem.
