Came across this story in the Chicago Daily Herald earlier today and just had to visit the blog they were discussing after reading about the tremendous success a suburban mother has built with her own blogging adventure.

Her name is Dawn Meehan, and her very plain looking blog is "Because I Said So" – a humorous look at everyday life with 6 kids – no lack of material for sure!

Here are some cool things we learn from her interviews and blog…

1. Instead of trying ot write about something that she had to research, she stuck with something that she was passionate about and had lots of personal – first-hand knowledge of – parenting.  Many of the successful authors and infopreneurs we assist over at InfoMarketer’sZone became much more successful after redirecting their desire to write toward things they experienced, new about and had an interest in.

2. Blogging as a method of getting the stories out.  Writing a book is intimidating – to sit down and plan a story from start to finish that will take 100+ pages will keep even the most motivated writers at bay.  But, if you could write a few pages each day – say at night after the kids go to bed or early in the morning before going to work, now hay – that’s possible, even with a busy lifestyle right?

3. Dawn understands the power of publicity.  By writing about items she sold on eBay she caught the attention of a mass audience who were also interested in eBay.  The press caught on too and she has an edless list of interviews that will massively improve her profile in the coming weeks.

4. She now is in a terrific position to write a book – lots of experience, she can bundle elements from her blog and she has a strong loyal following with lots more publicity on the way – now that’s a platform (as publishers like to call it)

5. You don’t have to be anyone special to develop interesting content that attracts attention.  If you look at her blog the writing is not particularly spectacular, the design is basic at best – yet she tells stories, entertaining stories to a captive audience of parents – a very nice niche.

When you see case studies like this you should immediately ask yourself, why not me?

You have something to share inside of you right now – by starting your own blog, writing your own reports and information products you can begin to build your reputation and your bank account – take a look at InfoMarketer’sZone to get you started.
