Most of us realize how important it is to bring on some big-time affiliates to help market our products and drive traffic to our information product sales sites – right?

Easier said that done for most people though, making an impact on established players in your market may seem like an impossible hill to climb – and for most, it will be if you make common mistakes.

There are 3 important parts to successful JV’s for your information product business —

1. Great product solving pressing need in a UNIQUE way. I would say that I dismiss 80% of jv requests based solely on this criteria.

2. Target the right audience. Just because someone has a list in a certain market doesn’t mean that this list is responsive to every sort of product – list owners have a good sense for what products will sell and which one’s won’t. It’s worth it to talk with the list owner and get their opninion on what is selling.

3. Good offer. Commission is important as is price-point, but even more important sometimes is a true “joint” venture. I kind of chuckle these days when the term JV is used, in reality most people are looking for something for nothing. Being more creative about what you can do for your JV partner will work wonders.

For example, when I started out I offered recorded interviews to my partners – they could use them as products, bonuses, etc… in response for a promotion. No trouble getting interest there. I’ve also offered to write specialized articles, even small reports for super-affiliates in the past.

What could you do to help your JV partner time or make them more money for their existing business? How can you help them to be different?

If you’re frustrated by a lack of response to your JV program, take a close look at each one of these criteria – or even better, have a few affiliate managers take a look at your products in terms of these criteria to give you a fair judgement on where you may need to pick it up a notch.
