If you haven’t come across the Marlon Sanders “Toilet Man” news promo, you have to head right over and see it – you will find it here.

Marlon is seeing massive clickthru’s on this promotion – I’m betting it’s for a few reasons including:

1. Empathy.  Great advertisers, copywriters and marketers understand that any high-response ad or headline starts with a deep understanding and empathy for what your reader is going through.  Obviously Marlon understands the issues online marketers are having with website design

2. Humor.  Touching the funny bone can be a highly effective tool tearing down the shield most readers build up when they are being sold to.  It’s been proven many times that we are more open to buying from someone who we think is funny.  Doesn’t always happen that your humor will connect with the audience, this one certainly made me laugh out loud.

3. Short and well designed.  The newspaper theme fits the message and the article is kept very short.  Marketers are finding today that short messages have a much better success rate than long messages in this time of restricted time and energy. 

Study this piece, it’s one of the best marketing mailouts I’ve come across in some time.
