Are there similarities between top selling ebooks on Clickbank, Amazon’s Kindle, Commission Junction and other ebook directories/retailers online that would help us better plan, write and market our own ebooks?
You better believe there are differences – and you gett he benefit of more than 10 years of personal experience not to mention 100’s of coaching clients right here in one no-cost blog post…so please read this information very carefully and USE the techniques when creating your own infoproducts – ebooks or otherwise. (Be sure to consider the complete Ebook Writing And Marketing System Here To Really Get Quick, High Profit Results)
Many of these ebooks sell $1M or more worth in a year – some over $10M – not bad for $17-$37 digital ebooks from many first-time authors.Â
Let’s take a closer look at what makes them sell so well…
1. Top Selling Ebooks Answer A Question. Â
The leading ebooks (and frankly – 99% of top non-fiction, non-celebrity ebooks) focus on providing useful answers to compelling questions in a given audience. They do NOT just inform, but rather teach, educate, offer their readers answers to questions and hope.Â
For example:
- “Truth About Six-Pack Abs” – answers the question “How Can I Get Six-Pack Abs, even if I’ve already tried dieting and exercise?”
- “Verical Jump Training – The Jump Manual” answers the question “How can I jump higher to make my basketball, volleyball or football team?”
- “Vision Without Glasses” – answers the question “How can I get rid of my glasses without going through the pain and expense of laser eye surgery”
So it goes without saying that the better you are at uncovering patterns of urgent questions your market is asking, the better chance you will have of writing hot selling ebooks.Â
2. Promises (And Delivers) A Measurable Result
If you think about it, most questions are asked for a reason, and that reason is to help someone achieve a specific result. If they ask how they can lose 10 lbs in 30-days, this is likely because they want to lose the fat hanging over their pants, or outside of their bathing suit so they can look better for their friends.
So, not only do you want to focus your ebook topic around answering a question, you want to organize it around helping your customer achieve a desired outcome or end result. If what people are really looking for when they want to lose 10lbs is losing belly fat, then your system should focus on getting rid of belly fat AND get them some results (assuming they actually follow your system)
3. Private Help For Embarassing ProblemsA good many top selling ebooks are highly successful because they help people with problems that are embarrassing or uncomfortable to bring up with even professionals.
They will pay a premium to find answers to these uncomfortable questions simply because your ebook offers them a quick, simple, PRIVATE way to solve their problem.Â
Here are a few examples:
-  “Cure Hemorrhoids In 48-hours”Â
- Â “Yest Infection No More”
- Â “Master Public Speaking In 30-Days Or Less…”
In each of these cases, the desire to find a solution combined with the uncomfortable, embarassing option of getting professional help tends to make ebooks extremely popular.Â
4. Urgency – Immediate Help
Without exception, the really big sellers in non-fiction ebooks are information products that address URGENT questions and URGENT desire to achieve a result (either overcome a pain or gain a pleasurable result).
Here are a couple of examples
“The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman” sits near the top of Kindle ebooks in sales – obviously urgency is the target with the 4-Hour reference in the title
“Get Your Ex-Girlfriend Back Now!” does a good job of targeting quick, systematic ways that customers can use to immediately begin fixing broken relationships without having to spend weeks in pain or seeing a therapist.Â
The good news is that popular discussions, questions or frustrations always have an element of urgency to them…it is your job to uncover the raw emotional reasons for that urgency and make that a key part of your ebook design and writing
5. Different Point Of View (Ex. Insider or New Information)
Another brilliant technique for targeting competitive markets with your own ebook or information product is to take a point of view or angle that is different…from a writing perspective this means having a different set of steps or tips, ordering those steps in a different way than past products have done or you base your solution on real-world or reearched experience.Â
You will often see top selling ebooks using descriptions like “New Technique For ____” or “Revealed, The Exact Way To ____”
Here are some recent examples of top selling ebooks that stand out for their unique angle or point of view:
 – “Weird: Because Normal Isn’t Working!” (A top selling Kindle ebook that implies that this information is very different)
 – “Underground Hypnosis Course” (Implying “Inside” information)
 – “Car Secrets Revealed” (One of the very first ebooks ever written by the late, great Corey Rudl
 – “Truth About Hypnosis” (Assuming past ebooks did NOT share the truth)
In the end, it often takes less effort to write an ebook that will get you six to seven figure sales than it takes to write a poor selling ebook, so wouldn’t you rather know what it takes to write one that sells?
Every top non-fiction, non-celebrity ebook that sells uses one or more of 5 techniques outlined above to make BIG profits…now you can use them too.
