We work with people each day inside InfoMarketer’sZone to help realize their dream of writing books, ebooks or training courses on their way to becoming recognized and well paid information publishers.

In a nutshell, this is business all about sharing knowledge (knowledge you may already have through life experience or knowledge that you go out and get through research, interviews or outsourcing) toward helping others experience desired transformations in their lives…for that transformation you can be paid extremely well.

For many people, the thought of sitting down and putting together a 100-200 page book is overwhelming to the point that they become paralyzed, unable to take the first step toward making their dreams come true.

There are many ways to overcome this sense of overwhelm about writing your book or ebook…not the least of which is breaking your project down into bite-sized writing exercises that can take you a mere 15-20 minutes each day.

THE BLOG-TO-BOOK APPROACH TO BOOK WRITING

One way of breaking down your book writing project into daily activity AND benefiting from getting content out in front of future customers is starting a blog with the intent of eventually publishing the top content from your blog into a book.

Here is an author that recently took her blog writings and turned them into a self-published book by simply cutting and pasting the top postings from her 5-year old blog.

She is now doing exactly the same thing with a new blog.

The advantages of using the blog-to-book approach to writing your own book are:

  • Most people find daily blog posts are very achievable and much less overwhelming than an entire book project
  • Most everyone can find 15-minutes in a day whereas it is tough for many to find 1-2 hour blocks…you are far more likely to keep up your blog posting with 15-minutes each day
  • Instant feedback…with blog posts you can ask people to comment and deliberately structure your posts to improve the chances of feedback – you will quickly find that some posts NAIL an emotional trigger in your audience which gives you very good insight into positioning your eventual book
  • You can incorporate feedback into your book – by adding comments and additional insights your customers can help you write your book
  • Blog syndication gives you a huge bump in terms of building a platform for your book or ebook
  • Even if your eventual book is not 100% blog material, you can choose to use as much of your blog material as you want making your eventual book writing much faster and simpler

There is no reason this needs to take 5-years…if you commit to a blog and publish 4-5 posts each week, you can have enough material for your book in a 3-6 month timeframe.

All the while, your blog publishing is building readers, followers and branding you in your marketplace so that when you come out with your new ebook it gets a “bump” in the market, you gain sales momentum which then becomes attractive to affiliates (potential resellers of your ebook that can really put your sales over the top).

Putting together a blog is extremely low cost, the WordPress platform is free and relatively easy to setup, your only costs will be a blog theme and some basic graphics to spice up your blog which could run anywhere from $30-$40 up to a couple hundred if you wanted to go higher end.

I would strongly advise you get an autoresponder account that will help you to begin to build a mailing list of subscribers so you can send them updates and eventually announce the launch of your new book.
