When you first decide to jump on board and take advantage of the massive growth in internet spending and e-commerce, the next decision surrounds how you get started?

Do you start by selling someone else’s products – perhaps become an Amazon affiliate, pick an ebook from Clickbank and earn 50% commissions or should you immediately jump into creating and marketing your own information products?

In either case, how do you compete with growing list of affiliate sites and information product publishers who will exist in any worthwhile market?

We have helped thousands of people create and market their own books, ebooks, digital and physical information products – and that ultimately is the way to go to get the most profit and leverage your time and brand to automate your income online.

But does that mean you immediately set out to market your own products?

Here’s the Challenge With Starting Internet Marketing

There are 4 main variables that must align before you can really make big money online…

  1. You must locate a niche market with a strong desire to buy
  2. You must create and position your product to attract that demand
  3. You must target your traffic generation in order to attract the most eager buyers within your marketplace
  4. You must have a high performing sales funnel and sales site that consistently converts those visitors into customers

Now you can understand the challenge in front of anyone starting their internet marketing business – the chances of accidentally getting each of these right the first (or even the second or third) try are very small.

Of course, consulting proven systems that help guide you through each step such as “The Ultimate Information Entrepreneur’s Success Package” can certainly help you get this right the first time.

So Let’s Lay It Out – Here’s How You Should Start Internet Marketing

My suggestion is to always start by looking at what is selling – you overcome 75% of the battle of making money online by first starting with something that is selling and then 1) Improving the marketing and 2) improving the product.

Why?

Simply because there are less variables.

With a product that you know is already selling well you KNOW a few things…

1. It has a market
2. It is in demand AND people are already spending money on it (no guesswork)
3. You can reverse-engineer what their ultimate motivation is in buying which can lead to additional product and marketing ideas…
4. You have a website and marketing system on the site that is doing a good job of selling that product that works…trying to do this from scratch can be expensive and time consuming
5. You can reverse engineer how they are getting traffic to their site – which keywords they are ranked for, who their top affiliates are, what sort of sales funnel they use, etc…

I don’t know about you – but I’m all for starting with something I know is working and then enhancing that business by 1) Developing new products to target the same desired outcome 2) Sourcing products from better suppliers (non infoproducts), 3) Putting a better offer in front of them 4) Making more profit 5) Generating more free traffic, and so on…

Systems around this process have worked for many we have worked with.   You can find a complete, 6-week Information Product Profits Course inside InfoMarketer’sZone that will help you fast-track the process of starting your internet marketing business avoiding the many pitfalls along the way.
