It’s interesting when we reach the point in life where we actually stop thinking about ourselves, the situation we’re in, our careers, our good times or our own bad times and find ourselves thinking — what can I do that will matter?

The reason I bring this up is because it is at precisely this point in our lives when we make major shifts in thinking, changing our career, take up a passion that will help others, become more creative, even write a book.

In fact, when I sit down to speak with many of my coaching clients and dialog with members of InfoMarketer’sZone I notice that they too are often driven by an overwhelming desire to "do something that matters!"

And no wonder…we all have knowledge, experience, points of view, tips, and strategies that are valuable to other people.  These may be experiences we were thrown into like dealing with a health challenge, experiencing major achievement in life, overcoming obstacles, or just working our way through challenges such as parenting.

Often we don’t give a second thought to what we actually know and how that could help other people.

What if we decided to take that knowledge, all of the research we’ve done on certain topics, the experiences we have lived through and simply organized them in a way as to help others who will no-doubt go through similar experiences?  Isn’t that doing something that matters?

Take this grandmother who experienced a double-whammy – her own health challenges after an unfortunate accident and experience with her granddaughter’s autism who turned this experience into a children’s book aimed especially at communicating with kids of autism…now her newfound passion, writing about autism.

We all have the ability to produce a course, write a book, produce an audio or video product that takes what we know and not only does something that matters, but transitions us into an income stream that can give us a better life, but also help the world around us…now that’s worth thinking about.
