One of the most powerful methods of attracting passive income is to develop an information-based product such as an ebook, book, audio product, dvd or membership site and attract some authority list owners and content publishers in your marketplace to introduce your products to the market.

You do this through operation of your own affiliate program where you actively pursue joint ventures and resell partnerships with big names and authorities in your marketplace.

What will you get by building a vibrant affiliate program…

  • Tons of traffic – sustained over months
  • The benefit of years of relationship building from top names in your marketplace
  • A much higher conversion rate as "warm" traffic coming from authority sites will buy more readily than "cold" traffic you must warm up through blogging, list, etc…
  • instant, overnight profile and prestige in your marketplace.  After being listed as a recommended product by one high profile affiliate in my marketplace back in 2000, I received a number of interview requests from other leading online publishing sties even though they knew nothing about me
  • Passive income – your army of affiliates will send you traffic 24X7 leaving you free to work on additional products and marketing campaigns – it is NOT dependent on your ongoing effort.

So – how do you get these joint ventures (jv’s) and super affiliates if you are just starting out?

Despite your concerns, there are 2 very important tips that will help you develop some very early and highly profitable jv relationships:

1. First, you’ve got to find them.  Don’t believe that they will find you – go out and actively collect a list of a few dozen desirable affiliates and jv partners. List their businesses, their sites, their content and business processes. Go ahead and find them first based on their authority in your market, relevancy to your topic and also looking at how they communicate with their marketplace.  Do they offer other partner products?  If so, how?

2. Create an offer they can’t refuse.  By studying their business model, figure out what you can do to add value to their business. If they publish daily articles on a blog – offer to write a week’s worth of blog postings for them as a ghostwriter in exchange for promoting to their list.

If they have some audio interviews, offer to record a telephone interview where you interview them and give them rights to the audio. If they operate a forum – offer to either post at least once a day for 2-weeks or offer to act as a moderator for a month…etc…

When I first started out online back in the late 90’s I conducted about 30 audio interviews with various experts – many big names you would no well now and got them to promote my products that way AND I also got to keep a copy of the interview to sell.
