I have to admit, the years I worked for companies producing millions of dollars of training material, courses, workshops and services programs didn’t give me a true perspective on how much potential "how to" information products actually have for their publishers and marketers.
I should have realized when a software company I worked for earned more from their first year of training than they had in each of the previous 3 years of selling their software – there was something special about producing information products.
Again, I should have known when I helped a friend put together a training course on financial planning that allowed him to quit his hated job and live better than he ever had before – but it took a little longer.
In fact, it was the first year into my own information product business – when my own ‘how to" information package was already selling like wildfire that I finally got it!
Round about that time I found myself swamped with interview requests, emails from subscribers and customers wanting me to expand on the information in the package, take them to the next step, help them with their specific situation – I was forced to quickly put together a consulting package where I first charged $60/hour, then $97/hour, then $150/hour – still the demand came.
I remember looking at it back then as a burden – not fully realizing there was huge demand for additional, higher-end business models here. That demand eventually translated into additional "how to" infoproduct bundles, seminars and a membership site as well as coaching club and consulting fees.
About 2-years ago – it finally hit me! All of this back-end demand was triggered by launching a successful "how to’ ebook – and there you have the catalyst to any business venture online you can imagine.
