At least once each week I get a question about finding ebook sales projections
or market numbers AND how someone writing ebooks can tell if there is a hot
market for their ebook?
And the first point – yes, ebooks really do sell, and they non-writers
in a wide variety of subjects are writing ebooks that bring them a
monthly recurring income, all for a few week’s work.
In fact, I developed an entire system around finding high-demand topics
and writing ebooks to fill demand – for non-writers in almost ANY
market – you can get it free here:

The challenge – even if you could find “official”
numbers is that there are many, many ebooks that are sold directly from
individual’s or company’s websites – not
through any publisher or ebook listing directory.
I myself have sold thousands of information products – ebooks, reports,
articles, etc… that would not be counted in any “official” numbers.
The fact is that ebook writing and publishing has opened the entire,
multi-billion dollar market for non-fiction (and to a lesser extent,
fiction) up to ANYONE with quality information to share.
As for which ebooks sell best – I have come across ebooks that have sold well
on just about any topic – gardening, business, parrots, dog training,
health and wellness,
mortgage advice, financial advice, hobbies, etc…
Trick is to tap into a strong demand within a given space, understand
what information your market wants
and give it to them – communicating in their terms what
this information will do to help them achieve what THEY
want to achieve.
