We’ve been seeing it happen over the last year, suddenly more attention is being payed to content – and not just one form of content, but ALL types of useful, valuable and entertaining content…audio, written and video.
Over at InfoMarter’s Zone we’ve been advising and offering training to our members over the last few months on ways to increase the amount and effectiveness of content as both traffic generation and information product delivery methods
Today, the Online Publisher’s Association released a new study showing a dramatic increase in attention paid to content versus other online activities such as email. It seems that the appetite people have for quality content is growing at an insatiable rate – pegged at about 47% up from just 33% a few years ago.
What is even more interesting is that there was a bigger increase (albeit only slightly bigger) increase in people viewing content such as videos, news, articles, etc…than used Google search – now we know why Google made the major investment in YouTube earlier this year.
What all this means for you as an online marketing business owner and information product marketer is that you need to be developing content – lots of it, in different formats with an understanding of what is in demand from your target market.
There is a great deal of talk about outsourcing tasks in your business – planning your strategy and developing a plan for more content is NOT one of them – in fact, you should be trying to outsource as much other activity so that you can spend more time on your content and product development strategies.
