It’s not the first time I’ve heard this story, and unfortunately it won’t be the last.

A recent posting on a entrepreneur forum pleaded with the readers to help an online marketer transition his business (literally overnight) from Adsense to something else – wonder why?

Well, in short, he got caught for something called "Arbitrage" – a phrase typically definining a technique of using low-cost Google Adwords pay-per-click ads to drive traffic to a site that has been optimized for higher pay-out Google Adsense revenue.

Strictly speaking, these sites tend to serve no other purpose other than to trap users into clicking on ads – this obviously is not the way Google wants it’s search engine used – especially it’s bread-and-butter Adwords customers.

So – turns out they banned this user’s account, and suddenly their $2K/month business is just a memory.  Gone, within minutes.

Is that a business you want to follow – quit your job for a business that could disappear tomorrow.

Even worse, I see tons of people recommending he replace this PPC business model with an affiliate marketing business model.

Really!

What if the affiliate manager decides to pull their product, change their commissions, or remove you from their affiliate program?

There’s nothing wrong with using these methods to enhance your base income – in some cases by a fair amount, but wouldn’t you want to base your business on your own product? Something you own the rights to – that nobody can come along and discontinue, change or govern it’s use tomorrow?

For the life of me I can’t figure out why ANYONE would want to risk their financial and life future on someone else’s business model.

It could be an infromation product, a service, a tangible product that you have purchased or negotiated exclusive rights to use as you wish.  Whatever the technique – make sure you keep control of your business model – in the end that is the foundation for all that you will accomplish in the coming months and years.
