In discussion with one of my coaching clients earlier this week, I was asked the question – what does it take to really control your sub-conscious?Â
Obviously the thinking was that our sub-conscious was out to sabotage our successes and achievements – and to the extent that we have trained it poorly in the past, this can be true.
There is a fundamental problem with thinking that you can somehow impose (from the outside in) all that is involved in you achieving great things upon your sub-conscious.
Of course, we can, through repetition, affirmations, and other techniques try and “re-program” our subconscious minds to be more in tune with what we want – ahhhh
But wait a minute…
“…with what we want”
There’s the catch. How many of us really know what we want? How many of us feel lost, unable to really understand the impact we want and can have on the world?
Do you get the feeling that you were put on this earth to do more than you have accomplished up to this point?
Do you really expect that through some act of chance, you will find out what that “something” is from the outside – Not likely!
Over the last 6-years though, thanks to some great teachers and a major health crisis, I began to work “with” my sub-conscious mind instead of imposing ideas on it.
There is a school of thought, which I have found to be true that believes we are destined for great things from day-1, our conscious mind and ego simply get in the way of us realizing this greatness.
So – instead of outside-in techniques, inside-out techniques such as meditation and brainstorming are invaluable to aligning yourself with your inner strengths and passions resulting in incredible results.
I have to say, with less than 6-months of adopting this “from within” thinking and techniques such as meditation to help find out what, within me, I was destined to do, amazing things happened in my life.
Suddenly, money was no longer an issue. Dreams of health, happiness and even other less important material things came my way. Goals I could have only dreamed of 10-years ago were suddenly within reach.
Suddenly, everything was much more clear – my guidance had to come from within, NOT living someone else’s dream, desire or experience.
In fact, based on my own situation and studying many other highly successful achievers, I’m almost finished a book on the topic – it really is fascinating and powerful stuff!
