We primarily discuss writing information oriented ebooks, books, courses, workshops, audio and video products on this blog – the high profit “How To” titles that run through almost every niche market you can imagine.
Another interesting sub-genre within non-fiction writing is biography. Now, writing biographies can be filled with land mines including copyright, permission issues, laws governing privacy and liability not to mention that once rights for one subject are snapped up by a writer, its tough to write another biography on that subject.
Even for those of us who write non-fiction how-to books, sometimes we like to profile, interview or include a case study or life story about people of relevance to our book.
Here’s a great interview with a writer who has recently released a sports biography – interesting information on how to pick a subject including some of the gotchas you’ll need to keep in mind when you profile people as part of your book subject.
