Although many information product marketers don’t come right out and say it, one of their main motivations for writing ebooks, developing coureses and marketing information is to quit their job and start their own business.
So, can you give your final notice, walk away from your job and career and finally be free to use your creativity, energy and time to build your own value in your market?
Ending your current employment is a decision that will be different for almost each and every one of us – due to differences in risk tolerance, financial position, stage of life and degree of pain. To help you decide when you should quite your job, here are a few tips:
1. Have a MAJOR goal defined before you journey out into the unknown. You may not have a 100% foolproof plan for how you will earn every dollar you need, but you must have an overriding passion and goal that really jacks you up – that will allow you to focus on achievement once you have quite your job.
2. Understand your stongest points – what you are good at and how you can apply that to present value to your market. Again, you may not have a full suite of products or services in place, but you should have a clear understanding and match between what you are confident you can offer AND what your market wants.
3. Have at least 6-months of expenses covered. If you have the choice, its best to NOT be in a desparate position of immediately having to replace your career income just to maintain your existing state of living. Desparation typically leads to poor judgements based on short-term needs rather than allowing you to build your business the way you want it built.
4. If you have decided on information products as your product adding value to your market, then understand the rules of the game – know that you are providing value to your market by understanding what they want, and differentiating yourself as a primary expert in that market. A great place to start is leveraging the years of experience and methods outlined in The Ultimate Information Entrepreneur’s Success Package.
5. Finally, remove the subjectivity from your decision. Try and analyse the benefits and risks associated with your intended change – a great article appeared earlier today called Do You Hate Your Job which gives some good examples of analysis you will want to follow when considering your final decision to quit your job.
By following these guidelines, your transition to a new, exciting income source and lifestyle will be much faster and simpler.

Thanks for the response – anyone else care to take the test?
