People often ask me, what kind of schedule do you follow when you create a new product (ebook, membership site, coaching program, training program. etc…?)
My response…
I am always creating my next product!
No, that doesn’t mean I work like a dog, 24-hours a day, 7-days each week.
In fact, it may surprise many of you how little actual dedicated time I spend on my business…but product creation is a constant activity.
For example…
- I ALWAYS have the curious information product opportunity mindset. I am always on the lookout for trends, frustrations, common threads of people looking for answers, listening for repeated questions or requests…these are daily clues to terrific infoproduct ideas
- Before I end each day I write down notes or record a short audio listing what I have done today in the areas of parenting, health, where I have gone, observations from reading/working/media, etc… that have struck me, people I have met or anything else that seems to stick out or that I have learned in that day (good or bad)
- I think of the mistakes I have made and write those down as well as the victories
- I go out of my way to experiment (learn new things, research new topics of interest, try a new diet or nutritional approach, try-out approaches to dealing and influencing people, help people, raise my kids, etc…and then document the results
Unless you do absolutely NOTHING all day, you have something that you can share at the end of each day.
Of course, not everything makes it into a finished product, but you would be surprised what does and the disciplined process of writing each day gets your mind working into the infoproduct mindset.
Finally, if you struggle with dedicating 5-10 minutes each day to this task, think of it this way…a few minutes a day can be leveraged in the future into a product that pays you for life (or at least for many years), a very worthwhile spend of your time.
