I seldom hear anyone with online prominence suggest (with passion): “Become an Advocate for your customer!†More often than not, one hears “Show me the money – Now!†I really appreciate hearing your slant on creating a “Content-rich Authority Site†that can be monetized in various ways. Thanks a lot, Jeff. Shalom!
Thank you Jeff. Your video was very valuable to me because I have been thinking of a number approaches to get multiple income streams going.
I am a well educated professional getting up there in age. I know that’s nothing new in today’s economy, but my situation may be a bit more serious. About ten years ago, I had a thriving seven figure consulting business.
In 2001 I had a one-year contract with a large bank. On the strength of that contract, I extended the same to my sub-contractors. The bank renegued on their contract with my company, leaving me ‘holding bag’, including twelve sub-contractors, being paid from $600 to $950 per day for the remaining nine months. I lost my business, every penny I had, my house and subsequently my marriage.
As a result of being perceived an old man at 63 years old and a horrible economy, I have been unable to secure any type of livable income. I don’t have any savings (not a dollar), no income or pension of any kind, and I live with friends. Without money to invest, securing any type of income has been difficult.
Sheila – it has been the way great businesses have been built for ages, nothing different because the internet comes along except a new way of communicating with your customer. Unfortunately, many small businesses are not looking at it this way and then wonder why they don’t get results.
Jeff
Frank – thanks for sharing, sorry to hear about the setback you went through. Pretty major, but it sounds like underneath it all you still have your hope and certainly have learned a ton from going through this experience. The great news about getting older is that we have more knowledge and experience to share with those just starting many of the steps we experienced years ago – a good starting point for finding topics to explore as part of an information-based business online. In any case, you really can start things up again online for very little investment (talking under $500 over a period of a few months where you can even help pay that by making iniital profit along the way. I would suggest you look for something part time to tie you over short-term with immediate bills, etc and take **some** of the pressure off, this will help you learn the ropes as you begin your journey of an online business (should that be the direction you take). Please do post any specific questions you have as you continue to monitor this blog – we would be happy to help you out along your journey.
