Forgive me if this comes across as a little too harsh, but it is Friday and I’ve had to put up with a lot of crap this week!
When you make it your main function to help people make progress and profits in their own internet businesses by targeting niche markets and developing info products…there is a great deal of confusion and mis-truth’s that comes with the territory.
Every Tom, Dick and Jane has an opinion on how to effectively market information products such as ebooks, books, training courses and the like…BUT…how many of these Tom, Dick and Jane characters actually make money (let alone a living) doing it?
I won’t push you for an answer on that, because the number is so tiny it is laughable.
Take an exchange on a forum I had with one “so-called” expert today who advises people to stay away from competitive niches…stay on the fringes.
Great Strategy!
If you want to sell a couple hundred dollars a month in ebooks…but don’t expect to make a living (or even close) using this strategy.
In my experience with several info products and coaching lots of others, newbies can (and often do)Â make fatal mistakes by avoiding competitive niches than they would make by recklessly entering a competitive market.
LEARNÂ TO DOMINATE COMPETITIVE NICHES AND YOU WILL BE BURIED WITH PROFIT!
The answer is not avoiding competition, the idea is to get good at niche marketing – period!
You can compete in busy markets like IM, weight loss, Personal development, etc… IF you can target an insane desire and develop a results-based system to solve their problem.
The issue 99% of ebooks that come my way have (that are not successful) is not that they are getting lost because it’s too competitive, it is that they are getting lost because they are badly positioned!
Instead of focusing on a result, they focus on informing or have such a weak value proposition that nobody will touch it with a 10-foot pole.
In fact these mistakes are so prolific there are 99 who make the mistake for every 1 that I see get it right…who likes those odds?
YOU WILL MAKE THESE MISTAKES TOO, UNLESS…
If you are considering information marketing, writing ebooks, putting up a membership site, developing a training course or delivering information in any way on the internet…do yourself a favor and get over to InfoMarketer’sZone NOW!
I can almost guarantee that if you don’t, you will make one of the very common mistakes that site helps you avoid, and your dreams of working from home on your own information publishing company will be squashed…nobody wants that.
On the other hand, get good at finding highly emotional desires and then targeting them precisely with a big promise and you can compete in any market – especially the competitive ones.
End of rant…the next post will be more positive – I promise!
By the way – if you have to get something off your chest about business or online marketing, leave a comment, and I’ll know I did my part to take a little stress off your back.
LOL! This must be the day for rants.
I just finished posting a rant about a scam masquerading as a business opportunity on my blog.
Why do people try to be slick? Take short cuts… especially when they can potentially destroy your business, your reputation AND could possibly even land you in court?
Have a great “May Two-Four”!!
Know what you mean Lisa, who do they think they are fooling? Planning a great weekend of family, playoff hockey and a cocktail or two…shhhhh, don’t tell anyone 🙂 Have a great weekend yourself.
