INSTANT ATTENTION FOR YOUR INFOPRODUCTS
To be successful in the information product business,
your products need to stand out - they need to offer a
unique slant on your topic ensuring that people will
absolutely WANT to buy your product so they don't miss
something important in your chosen market.
At first blush, being unique may seem too challenging.

Here's a really terrific way you can make sure you are on the right track to standing out from the crowd
Start by making sure you are taking a different approach to identifying your target market's problem statement.
In fact, it may be as simple as re-wording your market's
problem statement.
Here's what I mean.
Great information products address urgent and passionate
need or wants within a given market.
How to write great sales letters.
How to generate more website traffic without a list.
How to catch more fish
And so on...
In each of these, the main problem statement is clear within
the headline.
Say you wanted to create something very unique though - approach
the problem differently than all others.
Then - you need to simply change some words in your statement of
need.
This technique is covered by Michael Michalko in "Thinkertoys: A
Handbook of Business Creativity" available at Amazon and all
major bookstores.
Instead of answering the question "What is a faster way to write",
you may instead ask "What is a spectacular way to write?" or
"What is a funny way to write?"
Use synonymes, and different adjectives to mix up your problem
statement to end up with a question that your competitors have
NEVER asked.
By using this unique problem statement, you will have your own
unique information product, simple to market, in high demand,
all while branding you as a thinker in your field.
YOUR NEXT GREAT HEADLINE
Here's a little insider's secret...
When it comes to writing highly successful headlines for
your webpage, ads, press release and product titles...
1. Know your single biggest benefit. What is the most important benefit your
product offers to your market?
2. Check your swipe file for a headline formula that best
expresses your most important benefit. (Note: If you don't
have a swipe file yet, then start collecting direct mail,
magazine and online headlines - I have several binders,
files and books chalk-full of the most successful headlines
to trigger my sales letter writing muscle)
3. Don't expect to get it right the first time. I typically
write at LEAST 30-40 different headline variations before
I even short list them.
4. Short-list 4-6 and test them - ideally using split testing
software which allows you to send traffic reliably to two
or more websites to test how each headline pulls. Hint, you
can also run multiple pay-per-click ads on Google Adwords
and test headlines using Google's performance tracking tool.
5. Continue to test and improve. Use a control and test
page to continually improve your results. Its not uncommon
for you to take 3-6 months to get a very well performing
headline - once you have it, watch out.

Here's one of more unique websites I've come across
lately - its a site where you can post your vote for
the best marketing article, and get it listed on what
is sure to be a massively viral website - now in beta.

You'll notice that they not only allow submission of great
marketing articles, but they also pay rewards for the
best articles of the week - at least they plan to, its not
clear they are actually as of yet.
Interesting model, it should bring a TON of content and
because of their focus on pulling out the best content,
result in many people reading the articles as well - which
does not currently happen with current article directories.
TALKING TO YOUR FRIENDS
It certainly goes against mainstream publishing and
training in the field of writing to say that profitable
non-fiction writing is 80% communication and 20% writing
skill.
You need writing and grammar basics for sure, but how
fancy is a typical conversation you have with your friends
over lunch?
When you want to share an experience with your collegues,
do you stop and think about how to structure your sentences,
how to begin and end your story?
Not if you want to keep those friends!
Fact is, humans learn to communicate and tell stories very
early on in life - it is second nature to most of us.
It also happens to be the way most of us like to interact
and learn things.
So, next time you get caught up fretting over words on a
page, think about how you would tell your friends about your
topic.
You will find an instant freedom of expression and thought
leading to rapid product development and much more
effective products.

begin to grow as well.
