"So You Want to Be A Writer - What Next?"
Admit it, you've dreamt about getting up late at home,
enjoying the view, smelling the waft of bacon coming up
from the kitchen, hammering out some writing before
you even get dressed, and be free for the rest of the
day to do what you want.
No office politics, incompetent managers spreading the
insanity into your little world.
No insane drivers that somehow figure that racing you
500 feet to the next stop light somehow is a major victory
for them each day.
Forget the control your mail has over your mood when you
get hit with a truckload of new bills that all need paying,
how the heck do you get ahead anyway?
If only you could write for a living - what an incredibly
liberating and happy life it would be.
And yes, it really can be.
But for 99% of writers, its NOT.
Somehow the dream falls flat though when you try and
figure out how to get from your job to getting paid
the $500 per day you would need to make $100,000 a
year and still enjoy life.
Here are a few choices you could follow - see if you can pick
the best one for you...
1. You could start as a freelancer. Sounds cool, sounds like
you simply declare yourself and freelancer and money starts
falling from the sky. Not so - most freelancers are barely
able to eak out a living. Many are paid WELL BELOW what they
are worth. A select few have made it big, but its taken them
years.
2. You could pursue becoming published. Wow, your name in
every bookstore in the country, the syndicated talkshow
circuit, TV, Oprah, you can see it now...
Not so fast jack, this is a viable route for a very few, and
we'll come back to how this can come a little later in your
plans.
3. You could become a ghostwriter. Yes, that's it, there are
a ton of shmucks out there that have ideas, but couldn't get
ink to run out of pen if their life depended on it. Hmmmmm.
Let's think about this option. You are working for someone
else, on their schedule, on their topic under their rules and
getting paid a measly $500-$1,000 per project (which will often
take you weeks of writing).
There must be something else...
Let's Celebrate - There Is Another Option To Live The
Writer's Dream!
Even if your ultimate goal is one of the above above, there is
a better technique that will allow you to command much greater
control, market share, status and profit from those activities.
The option to pave your way to writing profits that works very
well is creating your own digital and physical information
products such as writing ebooks, reports, membership sites,
paid newsletters and recording audio products, interviews,
teleseminars and other multimedia content.
Wondering if you can do it, you'll find the steps in the Ultimate Information Entrepreneur's Guidebook to be quite easy and fast to follow.
When you do decide to create your own information products, you
will find tremendous benefits, including:
1. You can earn significant profits from these products because
a) you control the pricing and can price it as the market will
bear - typically much higher than standard articles or books go
for and b) you get to keep most of the profits in your pocket,
rather than filling the pockets of a publisher or editor.
2. You build a strong, loyal customer base that you can continue
to market to again and again. Think about it, if someone purchases
your book in a bookstore, its a one-time relationship - it's very
tough to sell them additional products or services. Any six or
seven figure online publisher will tell you that the key to their
big income is multiple sales into the same customer base.
3. You become a BRAND. If you really want to get published, charge
$1,000/hour for consulting, price your products higher than your
competition, get people to buy from you instead of your competition,
then you can do that by planting YOUR brand in their brain. You are
the expert in "....." Information products can quickly
and effectively build your brand.
You really can live the "writer's lifestyle", working from home,
choosing your projects, building your bank account, working less
hours and building equity in your business - it's all a matter of
starting with your own information-based products.
